There She Grows! {San Antonio Children’s Photographer}

Last fall I had the privilege of photographing a darling newborn.  A year has passed and that same baby, once was so small and new, now has beautiful curly hair, sports a few front teeth in her smile, and is on the verge of walking.   I loved photographing her then as a newborn, and I loved photographing her now as a 12 month old.   This session was such a wonderful reminder to me of why it is so important to document life well; what a difference 365 days makes!  What a wonderful job I have!

Here she is… one year later!

Love that smile!

Evening Walk

Last weekend I went for a walk.  A walk in which I came back, get ready for it, NOT SWEATY! Forgive me if being frank about my personal perspiration makes you uncomfortable.

I took my camera with me on this walk.  This was notable because, believe it or not, I hardly ever photograph my day to day life.  In fact I rarely photograph the details of my own life at all!  There have been many a vacation where I have either A) not taken/forgot my camera or B) never bothered to use it.  And I, a photographer! Go figure. I have many theories as to why this is, but I will save them for a later post.

But anyway, I felt inspired to take my camera along on this sweat-free walk of mine.  I’m glad I did because the evening light was so lovely.  Errr… I mean because now I can share these details of my life with my posterity.

I’m going to find a way to climb on top of the carport at sunset.  The sun will wrap around my body, and all who wander past will think I am a heavenly being.  Either that or I’ll get up there and the sun will be too bright,  I’ll realize I’m not sure how to get back down, and all who wander past will think I’m the complex’s token crazy lady.
Pretty blue sky at the beginning of my walk. Blue flowersYellow flowers.  Man, I am good with colors!
The sky at the end of my walkGot to love a good sunset!

Fall Photos

I went for a walk last night when I realized something major- I wasn’t sweating! In fact, I felt great! And this morning when I went for a run, it was absolutely gorgeous.   This glorious weather make me believe that fall really will come to San Antonio one day, and it definitely makes me believe that it is time for fall photos!

I announced on Facebook a couple weeks ago my fall photo special to allow my Facebook fans first dibs on scheduling holiday photos. (Want first dibs on deals and promotions? Become a fan!)  Now I am extending the deal to all you wonderful readers out there! Book a quick session between now and December 1st and receive a $60 credit towards holiday cards (that’s the equivalent of 24 cards!).  Book a stylized session and receive $120 towards holiday cards (48 cards).

Warning: book ASAP especially if you want/need a Saturday! Book a session and take advantage of this beautiful weather!

I have dozens of holiday cards options, so we’ll find the right card for your family’s style!

Women’s Portrait Photography from the Summer

I was feeling a little nostalgic this morning as I realized it’s the last day of August… how is that possible?!  Where did my summer go?  September-April was all about shooting, shooting, shooting for me, and the summer was more about slowing down and working on my branding and taking my business to a level above and beyond where I ever thought possible.  However, I did photograph some gorgeous women and just wanted to give them a shout-out and tell them how amazing I think they are.

Brooke- high school senior, theater star, makes EVERYTHING more fun, will be successful where ever she goes in life.

Cheylee- sweetest mom, genuine interest in others, and one of the most down to earth people I know.
Adri- awesome realtor, brightens your day with an infectious smile, the go-to person for just about any connection.  And of course, Mindy- funniest girl I know, best sister, and to know her is, honestly, to love her.

To those women I was fortunate enough to photograph, and to all the other fabulous women I have photographed over the past year, thank you so much for your inner and outer beauty.  I have learned so much from you all.

Family

I got this email from a client this weekend, and it made me so happy for this family!

Hi Rachel,
I’m not sure if you remember us or not, but you took our family photos way back in February.  At the time, we were foster parents and unable to post pictures of the kids online.  As of Thursday, they are both officially adopted!  I just wanted to let you know in case you wanted to use the photos on your facebook or anything.  I was so excited to finally post them on mine today:)  They are great pictures.
Of course I remembered the family, and I was so happy to hear that these darling children officially belong to such wonderful parents!
